This wedding centered around crisp clean lines with natural touches. Held at Martime Park in Jersey City, a clean modern venue with wall to wall windows and views of the NYC skyline. With the flowers we wanted to highlight the modern style of the venue while still keeping the park look that surrounds the venue. The wedding took place in July so we went with combinations of dendrobian and cymbidium orchids. I liked orchids for this event because the flower that has a very structured modern looking bloom that can hold up as the focal point of an event. We added the natural elements with striped curly willow branches, submerged flowers, and black river rocks to accent the orchids and highlight the beauty of the park surrounding the venue.
Details:
Bride's Bouquet a combo of green and white cymbidium orchids, a few white callas (also a very structured flower) highlighted by lime green hypericum, to create a simple and modern looking bouquet.
We made a smaller version of the bride's bouquet for the bridesmaids, using the purple dendrobian orchids instead of the white cymbidiums to give more color to the bouquets and pop off the black dress.
The ceremony was held on the top floor of the venue, a very large room with exposed beams, white walls and lots of windows. We created a structured Chuppa and draped it with sheer white fabric to allow the light from the windows in. The decor was a simple branch design to pull in a natural look with hanging purple dendrobian orchids to add a pop of color to the piece.
We did a simple white aisle runner for the bride and lined it with tall square vases with submerged cymbidium orchids in whtie and green over river rocks topped with a floating candle to create simple elegant pieces to line the aisles with.
***We also transfered the large white cymbidium Vases to the Reception Room as a second type of centerpiece I love being able to use elements from the ceremony in the reception, it is a great way to get a lot of use out of your flowers when you do everything in one venue
Simple dendrobian orchid ties help highlight the "perfect" structural look to the Chuppa design
For the card table we lined the table with black river rock (again pulling in that natural element) with single dendrobian blooms and square candles to add a decorative element to the table, giving it a simple stylish look
For the second style of centerpiece we did a simple spray of dendrobian orchids atop a fluted vase with striped curly willow branches woven in between the blossoms.
